Now that we’ve fully recovered from St. Patty’s Day season, it’s time to get back into the swing of things. Please join KF&AR on April 24th at the Irish American Heritage Center in Chicago. Consider this a preview of what’s to come at the Irish American Heritage Festival in July (which we’ll also be playing). It will be a longer-than-usual set, so expect to hear some old favorites.
Our calendar is quickly filling up for the summer, so check back often for show updates.

Kevin Flynn & The Avondale Ramblers are proud to present their first live album, titled: “Double Door 9-15-09″. The show was recorded, coincidentally enough, on September 15th of 2009 at (equally coincidentally enough) the Double Door in Chicago, IL. It will be available this St. Patrick’s Day season at our upcoming shows. The set-list is as follows:
1. The Devil & Dr. Holmes
2. The Minstrel Boy
3. You Don’t Want Me
4. Somethin’s Goin’ Down
5. The Sign of The Cross
6. (Hey Now) You’re My Savior
7. Pope of the Windy City
8. The Legend of Money Malone
9. One Day In May
10. Here’s To You 2nd City
11. Stand Tall

Yes, it’s coming up to that time of year – when KF & AR are no longer the red-headed step-children of the music world.. When corned beef is no longer just served as hash or in a Reuben… When drinks are poured, raised – then drank or spilled….. When everyone is Irish – even those who deny they are…!!
Make sure to check “Tour” listing for all of our upcoming St. Patrick’s Day shows..!
Here’s to swimmin’ with bow-legged women! ; )

Twas the night before Christmas and all through the town the Ramblers were pouring out shots of the brown. Happy Holidays everyone! We’re looking forward to sharing some new songs in 2010…. and remember, St. Patrick’s season is just around the corner. Here’s to you all, and to all a good night!

We wanted to get the holiday season underway on the early side, thinking the only thing better than excuse to raise a pint or two Xmas) is a second reason (a musical recital of the loud, irish-american variety). So we’re playing Martyrs on Friday, December 4th.
We have some new material that is ready ready ready to go, and a couple of old faves will sure to be played.
Also on the bill are two great bands, the Dirty Rooks and Blue Moon Revue… Come on out and see us! I’m talking to you — yes, you! Holiday attire will not be required but we like a little elf costume, especially, so…. yeah.
See ya there!

Be sure to check out Kevin & Co. this Friday, December 4 at Martyrs’. This will probably be your last chance to catch KF&AR before the new year since St. Patty’s Day “Season” is right around the corner and we have a lot of new material to work on. Dirty Rooks and Blue Moon Revue will also be performing. See you there!

Here’s something new: we’re gonna do an all acoustic show at the Atlantic. We did one of these once before and has so much fun that we decided to try and get more of these gigs. The nice quiet volume mean we have to bang the crap out of the guitars to get our point across, and the stripped down arrangements mean you’ll be able to make out hat we’re singing (if Kevin follows through and gets a megaphone) — what could be more fun than that?
Also — Fred will be flying back from some island paradise to make the gig, poor bastard. Come on out and show him it was all worth it!

KF&AR will be performing at Subterranean this Saturday at 8:00pm. The show is a benefit for the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, who were in a serious van accident while on tour in September. Most of the band was hospitalized and their medical bills are starting to pile up. BBU, The New Duncan Imperials and Canasta will also be performing. There are also some rumors that members of Scotland Yard Gospel Choir will be there to play a few tunes.
This Saturday also happens to be Halloween, which is our 2nd favorite drinking holiday, so dust off your cape and we’ll see you at Subterranean.
Heres a link to a news story about the van accident: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/10/scotland-yard-gospel-choir-alive-again-after-devastating-van-crash.html

Getting a bite to eat at the Diner Grill, Ashland and Irving.
While it may seem like we’ve been battening down the hatches and getting ready for what may well be a brutal Chicago winter, we’ve also been working on a thing or two for the fall. First up is a show on All Hallow’s Eve to benefit the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, fellow Chicagoans who have suffered a terrible van accident and deserve our and your support. Please come on out to the Subterranean on October 31st, and bring friends!
What else? Oh yeah, our marketing guru Andrew Patterson Gerber thought the world could use a few more publicity pictures of Kevin, and after a lengthy procrastinatory process was successfully brought to a conclusion, we have some results! And as you see above, we have some great photographs by excellent Chicago photographer Jim Newberry.
