Presenting an early X-mas show.

Posted By kevin on November 30, 2009

We wanted to get the holiday season underway on the early side, thinking the only thing better than excuse to raise a pint or two Xmas) is a second reason (a musical recital of the loud, irish-american variety). So we’re playing Martyrs on Friday, December 4th.Elf girl

We have some new material that is ready ready ready to go, and a couple of old faves will sure to be played.

Also on the bill are two great bands, the Dirty Rooks and Blue Moon Revue…  Come on out and see us! I’m talking to you — yes, you! Holiday attire will not be required but we like a little elf costume, especially, so…. yeah.

See ya there!

KF&AR at Martyrs’ This Friday

Posted By fred on November 30, 2009

Be sure to check out Kevin & Co. this Friday, December 4 at Martyrs’.  This will probably be your last chance to catch KF&AR before the new year since  St. Patty’s Day “Season” is right around the corner and we have a lot of new material to work on.  Dirty Rooks and Blue Moon Revue will also be performing.  See you there!

All Acoustic at the Atlantic

Posted By kevin on November 18, 2009

Here’s something new: we’re gonna do an all acoustic show at the Atlantic. We did one of these once before and has so much fun that we decided to try and get more of these gigs. The nice quiet volume mean we have to bang the crap out of the guitars to get our point across, and the stripped down arrangements mean you’ll be able to make out hat we’re singing (if Kevin follows through and gets a megaphone) — what could be more fun than that?Kev at the studio

Also — Fred will be flying back from some island paradise to make the gig, poor bastard. Come on out and show him it was all worth it!

Benefit for The Scotland Yard Gospel Choir

Posted By fred on October 26, 2009

KF&AR will be performing at Subterranean this Saturday at 8:00pm.  The show is a  benefit for the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, who were in a serious van accident while on tour in September.  Most of the band was hospitalized and their medical bills are starting to pile up.  BBU, The New Duncan Imperials and Canasta will also be performing.  There are also some rumors that members of Scotland Yard Gospel Choir will be there to play a few tunes.

This Saturday also happens to be Halloween, which is our 2nd favorite drinking holiday, so dust off your cape and we’ll see you at Subterranean.

Heres a link to a news story about the  van accident: http://leisureblogs.chicagotribune.com/turn_it_up/2009/10/scotland-yard-gospel-choir-alive-again-after-devastating-van-crash.html

Getting a bite to eat at the Diner Grill, Ashland and Irving.

While it may seem like we’ve been battening down the hatches and getting ready for what may well be a brutal Chicago winter, we’ve also been working on a thing or two for the fall. First up is a show on All Hallow’s Eve to benefit the Scotland Yard Gospel Choir, fellow Chicagoans who have suffered a terrible van accident and deserve our and your support. Please come on out to the Subterranean on October 31st, and bring friends!

What else? Oh yeah, our marketing guru Andrew Patterson Gerber thought the world could use a few more publicity pictures of Kevin, and after a lengthy procrastinatory process was successfully brought to a conclusion, we have some results! And as you see above,  we have some great photographs by excellent Chicago photographer Jim Newberry.

We’re 1/2 Way There

Posted By fred on September 20, 2009

It was a busy summer for the Ramblers, but things are just starting to settle down.  Last Thursday we concluded a Summer of shows with The Abbey Pub’s 1/2 Way to St. Patrick’s Day party.  Now that we have a little down time we’ll be finishing up some new material, putting together some new merchandise, and having some professional photos taken.  The Ramblers haven’t been big on posing for photos in the past, but we’re not getting any younger or better looking so now is the time.

No new shows to speak of yet, but keep your eyes on this page for updates.

Back To Work

Posted By fred on July 31, 2009

Thanks to everyone who’s supported us at our shows this summer.  We’ve been fortunate enough to play most of our shows outdoors for the past few months, but now we’re locking ourselves in the studio to finish up some new material.  Some of you may have already heard “The Pope of the Windy City” at Irish Fest… but there’s a lot more where that came from.

… not to say there aren’t shows in the works.  We’ll be playing in Valparaiso, IN for their Irish Fest on August 22nd.  Plus there’s that whole “1/2 way to St. Patrick’s Day” thing right around the corner.  Watch this space for more details in the coming weeks.

Well its been awhile since we posted…. Thanks to everyone who came out to teh record release party at Martyrs! It was quite a night, and aside from our drunken state (or maybe because of it) a fine time was had. Thanks to T Duggins and the Scott Lucas ensemble – to to T and Mike especially for helping us out on Broad Majestic Shannon. We’re not sure why Kevin exited stage right at that point, but hey….

So we’ve added some shows, check out the Tour link above… Ballydoyle in Aurora =, Welles Park and the Irirsh American Heritage Festival coming up! More soon!
